Comparing Lawn Care Pricing Between Companies

lawn care services comparing apples orangesOne look on the internet and one can see that there are many choices when it comes to lawn care companies in the Cleveland and Columbus area.  While you may think that we all provide the same services and can compare on cost alone, you may want to make sure you’re not comparing apples with oranges.

    Different Prices = Different Services

Like the age old saying, “you pay for what you get,” you have to be careful when comparing costs for lawn care fertilization services.  While nearly all companies advertise “lawn care programs,” the services within those programs differ.  So when you compare pricing, make sure that you get a detailed description of the services that are provided with that program.  You’ll be surprised to see that the cheapest price is more than likely due to the limited services in that program.

Weed Control MAY NOT be Included

You would hope that if you do sign up with a lawn care company that weed control would be included.  Well, to a certain extent, most companies do.  However the amount of weed control applications greatly differ.  For example, a well known national lawn care company provides 6 fertilizer applications in their basic program, however only provide weed control with 2 of those applications.  Weed Pro, provides weed control in all 6 of there applications.  So be mindful of what each application has, and what they’ve taken out to lower the price.

    5 – 6 – 7 Applications: How Many Do I Really Need?

We get this question a lot.  Our recommendation is that you really need a 6 application program that is spread out through the growing season.  With 6 applications spaced every 30-45 days, you get great weed control and a constant feeding for your lawn.  However every budget is different, and a good lawn care company will be able to customize their program to meet the basic needs such as Crabgrass Prevention, Grub and Insect Prevention, Weed Control, Summer Fertilizing that strengthens your root systems, and a good fall/winter mix to get your lawn through until next spring.
