Often I hear from many customers asking what they can do to help ensure that they get the most out of their lawn care fertilization service.  Purchasing a fertilization package from a lawn care company is a great start, but it doesn’t end there.  Here are 5 things you can do to make sure you get the most value for your hard earned money.

 1. Follow all mowing and watering recommendations set out by your service.
At Weed Pro your technician will leave notes on your invoice regarding proper mowing and watering practices. Both of these are the responsibility of the homeowner to help assist us in delivering first class results. If you fail to follow these simple instructions the overall health and vigor of your lawn will suffer.

 2. Call in to ask questions or voice concerns about your lawn.
We cannot call every customer once a week to see if there are any concerns on the lawn. In fact we attempt three times a season to see if the customer has any concerns that may not  have been noted by the technician. It is of great importance that the homeowner communicates with their lawn care company and ask questions and voice concerns so they can be resolved.

 3. Maintain your lawn mower properly by keeping the blade sharp and the mower set at the recommended height. 
Proper mowing is essential to healthy turf grass.  A couple examples are: a dull mower blade can shred the crown of your grass an cause poor color and removing more than one third of the blade during mowing can stunt growth and cause loss of color as well. This is why Weed Pro will leave notes regarding recommended mowing height and more.

 4. Walk your lawn at least once a week to make sure there are no problem areas.
The homeowner is able to take a look at their lawn every day, your technician cannot. It is important that you get out on the lawn and check for any problem areas. Check to see if weeds have appeared between application, if there are any thinning areas, or if there is any kind of discoloration. Anything that you feel does not look how you want must be reported to your provider.

 5. Try to educate yourself about lawn care so you know what you are looking at, and understand how your program is improving your turf.
It is important that the homeowner begins to learn how fertilization programs work, and what they need to look for.
