Comparing Lawn Care Benefits: Is Your Satisfaction Really Guaranteed?

lawn care satisfaction guaranteeIt's funny how many times I see the phrase "Unconditional Satisfaction Guarantee" not only in lawn care advertisements, but everywhere else too. Often I laugh to myself because I think of the movie Tommy Boy, where Tommy is talking about how easy it is to slap a "Guarantee" label on the side of a box.  As ridiculous as that movie is, he's right.  So let's examine the "Unconditional Satisfaction Guarantee," and how you can know if it's really a benefit, or if it's just a label on a box.

Really - My Satisfaction, Huh?

This is the wild card in the whole scenario. We'll work until your satisfied, guaranteed.  Well what most companies mean to say is "we'll attempt to fix the problem to a satisfactory level based on what we can do."  This means that if they've screwed up, they will determine what can the company do.  With small problems like spraying weeds that pop up throughout the year, they'll come back and spray it (well, most of the time). However, a failure in their grub control product that destroys your lawn and they may be less helpful.  The more serious the senarios get, the less the lawn care company is willing to do for you.

Set Some Expectations Up Front

The easiest way to make sure what kind of Satisfaction Guarantee you are getting is to ask for the details.  Don't assume that you know what they mean, or that they are going to deliver a resolution that you think is appropriate.  For example, ask them questions like:

  • How many times will you come out to spray weeds?
  • What happens if your product does not deliver the results I desire?
  • What disease and other turf problems will you not fix?

The Higher Level of Expertise = The Higher Level of Satisfaction

The best way to fix a problem is to not cause one in the first place. That's why Weed Pro invests thousands of dollars every year in training our licensed technicians to do things right the first time. So when you're choosing a lawn care company, find out more about the people actually applying the product to your lawn.  Are they certified lawn care applicators? Is the company fully insured? What does theirlawn care packages include?
