fertilizer crabgrass preventerFertilizer, not unlike many other products, is produced and sold by many different companies with different brands and options to choose from. Because of this, it is often confusing when comparing lawn care products and trying to understand which one is best for you and your lawn. So in an attempt to make your spring lawn care choices easier, we've examined the best lawn care products in the industry, and found the best and the worst fertilizer with crabgrass preventer.

The Two Main Crabgrass Treatment Products:

    1. Pendimethalin - This common product is used by many national lawn care fertilizer brands as the active ingredient for treating crabgrass. While this product reduces the price of your fertilizer costs, you end up paying for it in the long run. Pendimethalin is an odorous material that stains clothing, driveways and other things very easily. In addition to these negative attributes, pendimethalin is only a pre-emergent, preventing crabgrass from germinating. Existing crabgrass seedlings are not effected or controlled with this product.

    Summary of Attributes:

    - Bad Smell
    - Staining
    - Only Pre-Emergent Crabgrass Control

    2. Dimension - Another common crabgrass treatment product, Dimension is on the higher-end of the pricing charts for crabgrass control. However, unlike pendimethalin, dimension is a non-staining, odorless material. Additionally, dimension is a fantastic pre-emergent product that gives longer control as well as providing post-emergent control too. Coincidently, Dimension currently is the product of choice for Weed Pro's crabgrass and fertilizer treatment.

    Summary of Attributes:

    - Non-Staining
    - No Smell
    - Pre & Post-Emergent Crabgrass Control
