lawn fertilizer crabgrassWhile it may be winter outside for Cleveland and Columbus, we here at Weed Pro Lawn Care are hard at work preparing for the spring thaw and another year of caring for our customers lawns. As we do every winter, we often look at how we can provide a better lawn care experience for our customers, and this year we've come up with some exciting new ways to serve you better.

    Better Products

While fertilizer may seem like its all the same, there are major differences between brands and product combinations. Every season we examine our product selections and analyze it's effectiveness for the areas we serve, taking into consideration climate, soil conditions, and grass variety. Additionally, we always look to improve the quality of our product offerings based on the latest developments and research. As we head towards spring, here are some great new product changes:

    • Better & Longer Crabgrass Prevention - Crabgrass pre-emergents are a necessity in our area come the first of spring. Crabgrass is a difficult weed to control and often the current products on the market provide protection through only the first part of spring. With crabgrass outbreaks happening later in recent seasons, Weed Pro has chosen to use a new product to prevent crabgrass from germinating well into the summer.

Prodiamine is a crabgrass treatment that is added onto our first round application that provides a much longer protection period for crabgrass outbreaks. This granular product has a distinct yellowish color making it easier to recognize, but will not stain clothing, cement, or other things it comes into contact with.
    • Ironite™ Treatment with Rounds 2 & 3 - During the cooler spring season, lawns in Cleveland and Columbus sometimes have trouble "greening" up quickly. This is usually caused by mineral deficiencies, which no amount of fertilizer can fix. To counter this growing problem in our lawns soil, we have chosen to use a fertilizer product that contains ironite™, which helps restore vital minerals (iron) to your lawns soil, giving a rich green color to your lawn.
    • Liquid Grub Control - In the past, Weed Pro has used a granular grub control product, limiting the type of fertilizer choices available to our customers. While this provided excellent, year long grub control, it took away from the choice of fertilizer products that we were able to use with the product. Switching to a liquid grub control product this season has allowed us to improve the quality of fertilizer product we can use, improving the overall health of your lawn.
