Restore Your Lawn's Health with an Aeration Today!

Posted by: Stephanie Knezevic on May 8, 2015

Aerating-LawnYou may have remembered from one of our recent articles that aerating your lawn this spring is a crucial step to making it look great for this summer. The process provides multiple benefits for your lawn and ensures that it is healthy from the surface to the roots. While the aeration process is possible to do yourself, it isn’t as easy as it sometimes seems. Find out how Weed-Pro can help you out and save you a lot of time and energy!

Lawn aeration is the process of creating thousand of tiny holes in your lawn to relieve compressed soil and allow better access of oxygen, water, and nutrients to the roots. If you haven’t yet, check out our past article about the lawn aeration process and how to know when your lawn needs aerating.

Although there are ways you can do the aeration process yourself, not all of them are easy and it’s going to involve quite a bit of time no matter which route you take. One of the benefits of bringing in a professional lawn service to do this for you is that you will save so much time. And we all know how precious our time is these days. By bringing in a professional you will not only get your lawn aerated, but they will have all the proper equipment and knowledge to ensure that it is done right.

Weed-Pro offers aeration services that will restore your lawn and help make it healthy again! Our core aeration service will safely dethatch your lawn, loosen the soil, and allow for stronger root growth. When we aerate a lawn, we also will make sure to leave those plugs of soil. Now you may be wondering why on earth we would do that. After all, they aren’t very appealing to see in someone’s lawn. But believe it or not, there are actually a lot of benefits to leaving those plugs on your lawn. For example, the plugs can provide nutrients for your soil since they are made up of organic material. You can read more about those benefits here.

We recommend aerating your lawn once in the spring and then again in the fall. This will help prevent the soil from compacting and keep your lawn healthy! We also recommend aerating your lawn right before you seed it. Typically, if you choose to seed your lawn without aerating first, the germination rate for the seeds will be much lower. With an aeration right before, the germination rate will be much higher, and you will have a much healthier looking lawn! Weed-Pro offers seeding services with an aeration, that way you can get both tasks done and out of the way. You can learn more about both of those services here.
